Extremely Scalable

A single Snowball Appliance can transport up to 80 terabytes of data and multiple appliances can be used in parallel to transfer petabytes of data into or out of our data centers.

Easy Data Retrieval

Many organizations are concerned that once they have moved all their data to the cloud that it would be both expensive and time‐consuming to retrieve data if needed. Snowball Appliance offers a fast and inexpensive way to ensure data can be transferred both into and out of our data centers.

High Speed

Even with high‐bandwidth Internet connections, it can take months to transfer large amounts of data. For example, 100 terabytes of data will take more than 100 days to transfer over a dedicated 100 Mbps connection. That same transfer can be accomplished in less than one week using two Snowball Appliances.

Tamper‐Resistant And Secure

The Snowball Appliance uses tamper‐resistant enclosures, 256‐bit encryption, and an industry‐standard Trusted Platform Module (TPM) designed to ensure both security and full chain‐of‐custody for your data. Encryption keys are managed with the Zoolz Key Management Service (KMS) and they are never sent to, or stored on, the appliance.

Simple And Compatible

Once a job is initiated, a Snowball Appliance is automatically shipped to you. Attach the appliance to your network. Run the Snowball Appliance client and select the data to be transferred. Once the appliance is ready to be returned, the E‐ink shipping label will automatically update. You can select additional data and back it up via the Internet; both data, transferred via Snowball Appliance and the internet are fully compatible.

Low Cost

It can cost thousands of dollars to transfer 80 terabytes of data using high‐bandwidth Internet. The same 80 terabytes of data can be transferred using one Snowball Appliances for a cost of $500 plus shipping; making Snowball Appliance as low as one‐time of the cost of using the Internet.

Additional details:

  • Processing fees varies based on your data size ( 10 TB processing fee is  $100, and for 50 TB is $300)
  • You have up to 10 days to copy your data to the device and ship it out (no packaging required), additional days will be charged at $15 / day
  • Devices are supplied by Amazon AWS

How It Works:

  1. Contact Us
  2. We will ship you the appliance
  3. Once the appliance arrives, download the client and select your data
  4. The client will encrypt and copy all your data to the Snowball Appliance
  5. Once completed, send us the drive and we will import the data to our data centers
